Peer counseling and support is offered by trained individuals living with a mental illness who offer assistance to others by sharing experiences, knowledge, and practical information. Our self-help groups vary in size by assisting one individual to five individuals, or more. Please learn about our programs, "Peer-to-Peer," "Strengthening Each Other," and housing program.

Peer-to-Peer
Peer-to-Peer is a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) support group. The course was written by Kathryn Cohan McNulty, who also has a mental illness. Peer-to-Peer consists of nine two-hour classes taught by trained mentors. Mentors are trained in weekend-long training sessions. At the end of the course participants receive a certificate for completing the class.
A Peer-to-Peer class is in session starting January 30 through April 10, 2010. Contact Ashley for details at 1-888-839-3191.

Strengthening Each Other
The self-help group is very interactive providing various handouts and lively discussion among peers, the class focuses on mental health education and coping skills.
Closed groups (not open to the public, yet) are currently being held at South Fulton Mental Health Center, Cafe 458, and at Villas of Hope.
